Marecon and her partners Deerns Consulting Engineers and Architecten aan de Maas were invited by Nazarbaev University to provide a workshop on the best practices in planning and implementation of the projects for the development of Technoparks and Campuses.

 

Nazarbaev University plans to realize Science Park Astana Business Campus. The Astana Business Campus is to bring together enterprises, students, innovators, inventors, scientists, venture capital funds and companies both fereign and domestic to create the Kazakhstan's equivalent of Silicon Valley.

 

Marecon and the partners presented the most successful Technoparks and life science and high tech cluster campuses with definition of the key factors for their success. During the workshops also the trends in research and market developments were highlighted based on the Horizon 2020 topics, having an impact on the technical infrastructure requirements and possible partnerships choice in order to establish the functional program, investments and realization plan.

 

As a result of the works shops the first step was considered as to develop the Technopark building that will perform as a business incubator and a living lab to be built on the main Campus of Nazarbaev University with mixed functions including offices, multidisciplinary labs, testing areas, shared facilities, such as meeting rooms, conference hall, business incubator, special zones for catering, meeting places, business services.

 

It should allow to model the operations and the functional needs of the future science park of Astana Business campus and to define possible structures for financing and investments. PPP structure examples were highlighted. Smart energy efficient infrastructure examples together with other environmental measures based on financial gains were presented.
